Candidate Dashboard
Brief & Impact
Summary
The main project I worked on was the design and build of a sign-up process for a candidate dashboard. I learned that the sign-up process is integral to a candidate dashboard because finding the right entrepreneurs to run a company is very difficult. However, the current process for how it was established wasn't ideal for the user.
To make an impact on both the company and users, there needed to be proper assessments of intelligence and behavior along with gauging a candidate's background that would be included in the sign-up process.

Problem Statement
Statement: Create a way for entrepreneurs to make an account and be properly assessed to determine if they are eligible to continue the process?
From talking with my supervisor regarding a candidate dashboard, we knew we needed a sign-up process in order to get potential candidates into a dashboard. The sign-up process wasn't going to be a way for candidates to enter in their personal information, but there needed to be a way to assess whether they could meet a set of standards to be eligible to make it to the dashboard.
Competitive Analysis
Research
To start, my supervisor had done prior research and let me know of some of the general layouts that he wanted for the sign-up process. On my end, I looked into how to best layout fields and inputs and took into account how to design/build screens asking for personal information and the best practices there.

Reasons for taking inspiration from the following steps:

-
The green check marks on the side are a good reminder for users in recalling where they are and how much further they have left
-
The layout of information fills the right side of the screen and doesn't require users to scroll or if they need to then the left hand nav can be sticky

Workflows/Happy Path
User Flow
With the user flow, I could see if there were proper flows to assess the user and what would happen if a user could pass those assessments and what would happen if a user couldn't.

Coming up with this flow early on in the process helped to expedite the creation of the designs. This also helped the team think of edge cases and different screens to create.

Overview
Design
For the designs themselves, I started off making high-fidelity wireframes as there was already a design template in mind for how the screens were supposed to look. When creating the wireframes as well, I had to take into account responsive design as these screens were supposed to be available on any device. There were also iterations that were done throughout the design phase due to more information needing to be added.
Note: In addition to these screens there are also embedded HTML elements of forms and assessments that help further assess the candidates in the process. There are also screens that users will arrive at when they are ineligible to continue in the process.
User Onboarding Flow
Create an Account
This screen shows the user being able to create an account to start the process. By creating an account, if the user loses their place in the process they can log back in and go to the screen they were last at.

User Onboarding Flow
U.S. Authorization
The U.S. Authorization section is extremely helpful in checking if the candidates are eligible to work in the U.S. either through citizenship, green card, visas, or other. On this page I added workflows that allow different options/selections to show up depending on the responses to previous input selections.

User Onboarding Flow
Relocation
The ability to relocate is extremely important. If candidates can't relocate to San Diego which is where Launch Factory operates then candidates aren't eligible to continue in the process.

User Onboarding Flow
Personal Info
This section asks the candidates for some personal information as well as a resume upload. The resume upload helps the executives at Launch Factory further assess the candidate.

Design
Mobile Responsiveness
While designing for desktop was the main priority, I also had to consider the viewpoints in mobile as well. These are some of those mobile designs for the above sign-up steps.

Frontend & Backend
Build
After the wireframes were completed, I then went into Bubble, a no-code development platform, to begin building. I first had to set up a database which can be seen below. Along with that, I added workflows to save and update the data being entered or to bring the user to another page.
Backend Setup
Database
This is a database of information I created regarding the U.S. Visa Authorization and whether they were deemed eligible or ineligible to further inform action items on the front-end.

Frontend Interaction
Workflows
This is the workflow that I created for the sign-up process. This enables users to continue on in the process and/or bring up screens that relate to what information a user entered. For example, if a user is unable to relocate to San Diego a different screen pops up that lets them know they are ineligible to continue.

Learnings
Through my internship experience, I was able to gain a lot of invaluable experience. By working in Bubble, which is a programming language in the form of no-code development, I was able to learn more about the front-end and back-end implementation of products and gain experience setting those up. While constructing the build and wireframes, I had to carefully take into account the visual design as this was going to be a product that is going to be shipped out. This involved consistent margins throughout each screen and element placed as well as consistent sizing for each input or dropdown that was put in. All of these were very valuable practices and information I was able to gain throughout this build experience.
If I had more time...
I would have done more testing on the final version I arrived at. As my internship ended prior to testing, I would have liked to see potential users' experience regarding the sign-up experience and see if there were any other pain points they had that weren't addressed. Some metrics I would have set up as well for testing would be overall experience with the sign-up process and usability. Another thing I would test would be the satisfaction of Launch Factory's stakeholders and CEO/Co-CEO regarding the applicants who made it through to the final rounds. Getting a satisfaction score regarding this would help show the effectiveness of the sign-up process in allowing qualified candidates through or not.
